Question by Melly Mel: Top school or specialized school for investment banking and hedge funds?
In the next couple of years I’d like to break into a position with a hedge fund. In considering graduate school, would it be better to go to a top 10 school like HBS, or a school like International University of Monaco. IUM has a graduate program that is specialized for those looking to get into hedge funds and private equity. It’s not a top ten school, but it is a top 30 so it isn’t the worst academically. The question is which would help me get farther?

You’re to be congratulated on your optimism: investment banks and hedge funds are all in considerable distress this afternoon. What you need is a general degree in finance, which you can get at any good business school. Accreditation in the USA is from AACSB, but I don’t know about the schools you’ve mentioned, though.
